“We will be without Roberto Inglese, Jonathan Biabiany, Alberto Grassi and today we lost Riccardo Gagliolo who got hurt in training. He has a problem with his calf, and it looks like his season could be over,” explained D’Aversa in a Press conference.

“Fabio Ceravolo didn’t train, but has been called up anyway, his situation is the same as when he played against Frosinone. We are short of cover at the back and up front, but what is important is that we go on to the field and play the best that we can.

“We take on a Chievo side that recently beat Lazio at home, and we know we have the opportunity to take the points that would help us achieve our goal of safety.

“This is the first of our Match-Ball games and it is a pity that we can’t play it without our full squad.”

As Empoli lost to Bologna on Saturday, Parma have the opportunity to go 10 points clear of the relegation zone with a victory.

Although Chievo are already relegated, they showed with recent performances that Mimmo Di Carlo’s men are not going down without a fight.

“Mister Di Carlo has done a great job, he deserves to stay at Chievo next season and try and get them back up from Serie B.

“He sets up his side for each different opponent and they like to get the ball up front as quick as possible. They defend well starting from the attackers.

“They were good against us in the first game of the season, they will play carefree and this will be an extra advantage for them.

“They will also play with a lot of good young players, namely Emanuel Vignato. I repeat though, we must win this final.”

D’Aversa then finished up by talking about the poor run his side had between February and March and dismissed the notion that it was due to either a physical or mental drop off.

“There was no physical or mental problem. Look at Chievo and the experienced players they have, they were more suited to life in Serie A than we were.

"No-one would have thought that this Parma side would have been so close to safety with five games left of the season. In the first half of the campaign, we did something extraordinary by winning those 25 points. Let’s not forget where we started from.”

Parma squad for Chievo: Brazao, Frattali, Sepe; Bruno Alves, Bastoni, Dimarco, Gazzola, Gobbi, Iacoponi, Sierralta; Barillà, Dezi, Diakhate, Kucka, Machin, Rigoni, Scozzarella, Stulac; Ceravolo, Gervinho, Schiappacasse, Siligardi, Sprocati
