Leonardo Semplici said SPAL “continue to believe” in their Serie A safety despite today’s 3-0 defeat to Roma.

The Ferrara club had been unbeaten in eight rounds, including six consecutive stalemates, but had no reply for the Giallorossi.

“We knew that we needed to have a great performance against a team in remarkable shape and playing three games in a week took a lot out of us,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“Alex Meret made some important saves, but after Radja Nainggolan’s goal, the team lost its shape. We have to tip our hats to Roma, as they have very different characteristics to us.

“We continue to believe we can stay in Serie A. We’re in the running and we want to achieve our objective. We managed to stop Juventus, but it’s not always possible to get that kind of performance perfect.”
