SPAL Coach Leonardo Semplici reveals his half-time team talk – or team shout – that pushed them to beat Juventus 2-1.

Moise Kean had put the Bianconeri in front at the Stadio Mazza, but Kevin Bonifazi and Sergio Floccari turned it around in the second half.

“We put in a great performance and it’s what we needed to get anything against a quality side, even without some players,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We weren’t sharp enough in the first half and started a little intimidated, but I tried to shake up the lads during the break and they were able to come out of their shell.

“I told the players that if we were to lose, we at least had to play. Until then, we had not been playing. I had a bit of a shout at them and it shook them up. We were a different team in the second half.”

SPAL also beat Lazio and Roma here in recent weeks, so are they becoming giant-killers?

“We’ve done well lately, bringing home points from games we thought were lost. This is an added bonus. I don’t think we’ve achieved our mission yet, as there is a long way to go. It is the first time for many years that SPAL have beaten Juve, though.”

The only previous Serie A victory over Juventus was back in 1957-58.

“We were fortunate to go up against Juve in-between two Champions League ties with Ajax, but you need to get nothing wrong to beat a side like Juventus anyway.”
