The midfielder has been increasingly linked with the coaching position at former side Milan, with him originally expected to succeed Massimiliano Allegri at San Siro come the summer.
However, with Allegri’s position having become untenable this week, resulting in his dismissal on Monday morning, attention has focused on the 37-year-old’s more immediate availability.
Initial reports suggested that with Seedorf still on the playing books at Botafogo, the reins at Milan would be temporarily handed over to youth team boss Pippo Inzaghi until the summer.
However, on from Milan’s decision to place Mauro Tassotti in interim control of the squad, Seedorf’s agent has confirmed that the Rossoneri won’t have to wait until June, should they want to make an approach for their former No 10.
“There’s not much to say about everything that has been written about Seedorf, but some things reported are incorrect,” Deborah Martin has told the Gazzetta dello Sport today.
“Personally I was involved in Clarence’s contract with Botafogo – there is a clause that allows him to leave the club at any time, without penalty, unless he was to go to play for another club.
“I would also like to point out that Seedorf now has all the credentials to train and took all the necessary steps in the Netherlands and in Brazil.”
