According to the Italian daily, top of the 59-year-old’s list of targets will be Higuain. The Argentine forward worked under Sarri for one season before Napoli sold him to Juventus, but the Old Lady could be persuaded to allow him to leave if Chelsea offer them €60m plus Alvaro Morata.

Should that deal fail to come to pass, Sarri would turn his attentions to Belgian Mertens, who became a prolific goalscorer under the former Empoli boss’ leadership.

Juve’s Rugani and Roma’s Manolas are said to be Sarri’s preferred options as he goes about rebuilding the Chelsea backline, with Danny Drinkwater and David Luiz tipped to exit the club.
