Maurizio Sarri hit back at Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis for their row over money and insisted the 5-0 win at Torino was not easy.

Jose Callejon, Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne and Piotr Zielinski secured a 5-0 victory away to Torino.

“Up until the second goal, the game was wide open and we were having some problems, especially in the heat,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia and Mediaset Premium.

“As time wore on and the temperature went up, our motivation came out and we managed to break down the Torino defences.”

Yesterday Sarri made a joke about wanting to “get rich” with his next contract, but President De Laurentiis replied with sarcastic comments.

“The Press conference began with me thanking De Laurentiis, as my Empoli was full of praise, but he was the only one who had the courage to actually hire me.

“Having said all that, if I had the opportunity to make my family richer and thank them for all their sacrifices when I went into this line of work, I don’t see what that has to do with De Laurentiis?

“My next contract could be done by anyone, even a Chinese club. If the President wants to extend the contract, then he can. I don’t see why it’s a crime to say I’d like to be well-paid for my job.

“There is a good rapport with Aurelio, despite the odd public comment, but he is very calm with me. I have a contract until 2020 and there’s a long time, as far as I know, before we’ll interrupt that.

“If the President wants to change the contract, then let’s argue during the renewal process, not before! Perhaps the President heard a version of something that is not what I said.”

When asked about the transfer budget, Sarri somewhat lost his temper.

“This Napoli can only be improved with players worth €100m, so without those, we sign young players who we can mould and fit into our approach.

“I haven’t spoken to anyone about money, I didn’t ask for top players from anyone. The club has its budget.”

Sarri was asked if he will watch tonight’s showdown between Roma and Juventus, but insisted he was going to walk his dog, Ciro.

“It’s a long walk. He’s a rescue who used to be a stray, so it’s not easy to steer him towards home.”
