Milan cut their asking price from €10m to €8.5m and agreed to accept payment in instalments, while Robinho took a wage cut, but it’s still not enough.
“I hope Robinho will lower his wages again,” Santos Vice-President Odilio Rodrigues told Gazeta Esportiva.
“Milan have set a very high valuation on the player and we hope this can be cut to make the operation more do-able.”
Robinho’s lawyer Marisa Alija also spoke to Globo Esporte about the negotiations with Santos.
“I think the move could be completed because we are at an advanced stage. I was meant to go back to Milan, but it is up to the two clubs to conclude the transfer by deciding all the payments and details.
“It is not an easy agreement to reach, but we are working day and night. In any case, there is time until July 15.”
The Brazilian transfer session closes on July 15, so Milan are in a rush to push through the sale.
