The weekend has seen intense debate surround a number of Serie A games, from Sulley Muntari’s disallowed goal in Milan-Juventus to a couple of incidents in the Robur’s own match at the weekend against Palermo.
“Those who know me well know that even when we have had things taken away, something I have always said is to pick ourselves up and return home to work,” reflected the 54-year-old on Monday.
“It is not just others who are fed controversy – at the end of the season there will have been give and take to compensate.”
Maurizio Zamparini was today very critical of match official Gabriele Gava, who took charge of Siena’s clash his Rosanero at the weekend. Federico Balzaretti was sent off for a contentious first-minute incident, whilst the penalty awarded to Siena to equalise was equally debatable.
Zamparini, when told by Radio Radio of referee designator Braschi’s past working at the Tuscan club, suggested that there was a bias to Gava’s refereeing to reflect that.
“I’ve not heard Zamparini’s words. I respect the President, but surely we must look at what happened on the pitch – I can speak in favour of Balzaretti’s expulsion because I have seen it so many times, the last man denying the opportunity to score.
“The penalty could be debated, but I will not enter into whether it was merited or not.
“Siena played a great game, whilst it is clear that I understand the difficulties faced of those playing with a man down.”
