Sampdoria have been dealt a further blow with the news that Nicola Pozzi could be sidelined for another four weeks.

The former Under-21 international twisted his knee in the 0-0 draw with Juventus on January 23 with an expected recovery time of 15 days.

However, the striker has struggled to regain full fitness despite some hope that he would return to action next weekend.

Reports coming from Doria are suggesting that Pozzi is possibly still up to a month away from returning to action.

Pozzi is thus likely to miss Samp's upcoming Serie A games against Bologna, Genoa, Fiorentina and Inter.

The Marassi outfit are short of attacking options after selling Guido Marilungo, Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini in January.

In their place the club acquired Massimo Maccarone from Palermo and Manchester United's Federico Macheda.

Sampdoria have failed to score in six of their last seven Serie A games.
