Coach Vincenzo Montella claims Sampdoria must be able to sustain their game for 95 minutes ahead of playing Palermo.

It kicks off tomorrow at 17:00 CET. The Aeroplanino will be looking to lift his team's morale with a victory after the disappointing defeat to Milan in the Coppa Italia.

“The team showed substantial development in terms of how compact and confident they are, and in their continuity over the course of the match,” said Montella in today's Press conference. “We must be able to play 95 minutes with the same levels of intensity.

“Football is played under pressure, and a player is evaluated among other things in terms of the importance of the matches. All games must be played for victory.

“We've said this often, this is a healthy group. After the training in Catania we saw the reaction on the pitch against Lazio, and on Thursday against Milan.

“The team worked a lot and it's rare to play three games in six days, but this is absolutely not meant as an excuse. We gathered some important data from the last match even though we lost.

“In Catania we opened ourselves up, we discussed what was necessary for the team. I liked them a lot against Lazio too in the defensive phase.

“Against Milan I saw the team playing in a more relaxed fashion, but we must keep this up for 95 minutes.”

Sampdoria are currently waiting for a number of players to return from injury, most prominently Edgar Barreto, Eder and Matias Silvestre.

“I hope all three of them can recover at the earliest, but I think it's going to be very difficult for tomorrow.”
