The Sampdoria club of England held a banner to support Gianluca Vialli in front of the London clinic where the ex-Italian striker is receiving treatment.

Vialli was hospitalised last week, days after he decided to step down as Italy’s delegation chief. He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2017.

An organised group of Sampdoria fans based in the UK – the Sampdoria club of England – showed its support for the ex-striker by unveiling a banner outside the clinic in London where Vialli is receiving treatment.

Vialli scored 141 goals in 328 games at the Stadio Ferraris, winning the first and only Serie A title in the club’s history in 1990-91.
