After Mexico’s World Cup goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, Salernitana are now reportedly in talks for Senegal midfielder Pape Matar Sarr of Tottenham Hotspur.
The Serie A side are already investing to boost their prospects in 2023 and picked up Ochoa on a free transfer from Club America.
According to Calciomercato.com, Salernitana are also now discussing a swoop for 20-year-old Spurs midfielder Sarr.
He too was in the World Cup in Qatar, playing two games for Senegal, but has not featured at all this season for Antonio Conte’s club side.
Sarr only joined Tottenham in the summer of 2021 from FC Metz at a cost of €16.9m, remaining at the French club on loan until July 2022.
Salernitana face competition from other teams, above all Spanish outfit Sevilla.
They are hoping to reunite Sarr with some of his Senegal international teammates at the Stadio Arechi, including striker Boulaye Dia and midfielder Lassana Coulibaly.
