Sampdoria have asked Wolverhampton Wanderers for the availability of Patrick Cutrone, claim Sky Sport Italia.

The 23-year-old Milan youth product was sold to Wolves for €18m in 2019, but has struggled to replicate the early form he had with the Rossoneri jersey.

He went on loan to Fiorentina and Valencia, but failed to score a single goal last season in 24 competitive appearances.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Sampdoria have already been in contact with Wolves to discuss a loan deal.

The Blucerchiati want a centre-forward who can rotate with Fabio Quagliarella, as the veteran hitman is already 38 years old.

Cutrone was spotted at Wembley Stadium during UEFA EURO 2020, cheering the Azzurri on towards their triumph in the tournament.

He has one senior cap for Italy, earned in March 2018, and represented his country 25 times at Under-21 level, finding the net 11 times, most recently in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
