Delio Rossi believes Jose Mourinho at Roma and Simone Inzaghi at Inter are the coaches most likely to get fired in Serie A this season.

There have been huge changes in the Italian top flight this summer, with almost all the big clubs moving over to new management.

When speaking to TMW Radio, former Fiorentina and Lazio boss Rossi was asked who could be first on the chopping block.

“Mourinho, certainly, as I know what it’s like to work in Rome…” was the response.

“I’d also say Inzaghi, because it will not be easy for him at Inter. He’s picking up a squad that won the Scudetto and, comparing to his predecessor Antonio Conte, he at the very least needs to win something.”

Mourinho signed a three-year contract with the Giallorossi and returns to Serie A for the first time since winning the Treble with Inter in 2010.

His career since that triumph has never quite hit the same heights again, as he spent three seasons at Real Madrid, but then was fired by Chelsea in December 2015, by Manchester United in December 2018 and given the push by Tottenham Hotspur in April 2021.

He replaces Paulo Fonseca, who took Roma to the Europa League semi-finals last season.

Lazio also have a new coach in charge, as Maurizio Sarri takes over from Inzaghi and brings a complete transformation of tactics from 3-5-2 to 4-3-3.

“It won’t be easy, because I know Sarri’s methods and he needs time, being a so-called teacher of tactics. To make matters worse, during pre-season training he’ll mainly be working with players who are destined to leave, so there won’t be much time to drill the team.”
