The Giallorossi’s 1-0 win over Parma at the weekend, when combined with Inter and Lazio’s” data-scaytid=”3″>Lazio’s defeats and Udinese’s” data-scaytid=”4″>Udinese’s draw, has seen Enrique’s side take fifth spot and close the gap to third to just four points.
Sabatini believes that the capital club could challenge for that final Champions League qualification place, if their mental approach is correct. The Lupi face Lazio and Milan in their next five games.
“Third place? You must create the premise. Every Sunday we have to fight to reach that target.
“To not fight would be ungenerous to ourselves and to our fans. Starting from next Sunday, we will start a little League that we have to play in.”
Meanwhile, the 56-year-old, who faces speculation on his future with his contract with Roma expiring in the summer, took time to praise Luis Enrique, whose future is also a point of interest, in light of a rumoured get-out clause to return to former club Barcelona.
“A vote for Enrique? The maximum possible, 10 then. He is a beast, very good. He is a great conductor, a tireless worker with an internal fire, a spark that is perpetually lit.
“He wants to implement a courageous football, although sometimes it has not paid off. But, this is the way we want to pursue, even though we know we’re going to encounter some difficulties.
“So far we have only constructed conditions to encourage it to grow.”
