Rugani scored his first goal in Juve colours on Wednesday as the Bianconeri returned to the Serie A summit, but the defender refused to take even part of the credit for the victory, instead praising his teammates for their collective work in stifling the Sardinians.

“It was a lovely evening, it was important to start well after a defeat. Now we turn the page and think about the next one.

“We risked little, this was also important, to be solid and grant [our opponents] little.

“Still, the credit doesn’t just belong to us defenders but the whole team.

“When there’s a desire to sacrifice, run and give a hand, it’s not easy for your opponents.

“This should be a starting point. It helps to have good defenders, but you need the whole team to have a beautiful defensive base.”
