Villarreal ace Giuseppe Rossi says he is fighting to be fully fit for Italy’s Euro 2012 campaign next summer.

The attacker was pretty much a certainty to make Cesare Prandelli’s 23-man squad until he recently underwent knee surgery.

The former Manchester United and Parma forward will be sidelined for six months, but he has eyes on being ready for the European Championship.

“I’m feeling better, I’m continuing with my treatment and everything is positive at last,” Rossi told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“I’ve published some pictures of me running on Twitter and things are finally going well,” continued the 24-year-old.

“It’s obvious that I hope to be at Euro 2012. I’m working hard to get back on to the field of play as soon as possible.”

Rossi had broken into the first team plans of Prandelli who had used him alongside Antonio Cassano – the Milan man who himself may not make Euro 2012 now after minor heart surgery.

“I’ve spoken to Prandelli,” Rossi continued. “We talked and I was delighted to receive his call after my injury.

“I’ve told him that I’m doing all that I can in order to play again as soon as I can.”

Rossi has scored six goals in 27 caps for Italy.

His agent recently suggested that Rossi could be playing again by April.
