Fiorentina boss Delio Rossi prepares for tomorrow’s Coppa Italia match and warns “Empoli are worth as much as Milan to me!”

The Coach made his debut at the weekend in a 0-0 Serie A draw with the Rossoneri and will be hoping for his first win in Thursday’s fourth round fixture, kick-off at 17.00 UK time.

“In recent years I experienced the Coppa Italia as a protagonist and if you keep pushing forward, then you can put an important trophy in your cabinet,” said Rossi, who won it in 2009 with Lazio” data-scaytid=”8″>Lazio and reached the Final with Palermo.

“In terms of preparing for the match, Empoli are worth as much as Milan to me! Italian football is the most difficult in the world and even a small club can cause problems for the big teams, so there are always upsets.”

Rossi’s arrival in place of Sinisa Mihajlovic was greeted with huge enthusiasm from the Fiorentina fans.

“I watched back our game with the Rossoneri and analysed it with the players, but I can’t be too picky right now if my men haven’t quite understood what I want. I am the one who must teach them if I want the players to guarantee my idea of football.

“It will take time and I don’t feel it is right to quantify how long this process will take. Of course, I hope it is as brief as possible.

“I think I can give a general shape to the side in 20 days, but to reach 100 per cent it takes years. I am never completely happy with my squad, not even when things are going well.

“Let us not forget we have to make the cake first, then put the cherries on top.”
