The Elefanti are in the market for a new tactician in light of yesterday agreeing to let in-demand Vincenzo Montella break his contract in anticipation of a move to Fiorentina.

Whilst Michele Serena and former boss Pasquale Marino are rumoured to be top of the Sicilian side’s list, former Viola boss Rossi is ironically another name that has appeared in recent reports.

Whilst a former Coach of rivals Palermo, Rossi has also hinted that there may be some truth to these links, by refusing to rule them out.

“Me at Catania? I will not answer, for now I prefer not to talk,” he answered in response to La Repubblica on Tuesday.

“For sure I am willing to go back on to the bench now, and with a clear project I would have no difficulty in continuing my career.

“I really want to Coach again. But, I cannot say any more.”

The experienced tactician was on Fiorentina’s bench last term, before an in-game fight with Adem Ljajic saw him sacked with two rounds of action still to play.
