Cristiano Ronaldo’s rivalry with Atletico Madrid continues in tomorrow’s Champions League clash between the Colchoneros and Manchester United and Spanish fans will remember CR7’s controversial gestures the last time they met him with Juventus.
Atletico Madrid host Ronaldo’s Manchester United in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tomorrow. Ronaldo’s last match at the Wanda Metropolitano ended in a 2-0 loss for the La Liga giants in 2019, but a hat-trick from the Portuguese star in the reverse fixture in Turin helped Juventus qualify for the quarter-finals.
Ronaldo took centre stage not just because of his goals but also due to some controversial gestures aimed at Atletico Madrid fans during his last two games against them.
The first leg ended with Ronaldo provoking Atletico Madri fans with a ‘five gesture’ to remind them of the Champions League he won with Real Madrid. The Merengues won two of those five trophies in the Finals against their city rivals.
The ex-Juventus star took his revenge in the second leg in Turin by scoring a hat-trick that eliminated the Colchoneros and celebrating under the section of Spanish fans with a self-explanatory gesture.
