“What’s so special about Italian football? It has the most important history in the world, as a kid I’d wake up at 9am in Brazil to watch the games.

“Italian football made me get the best out of myself. It was the most difficult but also most beautiful place I played.

“My history is beautiful because I can say I played in Italy.”

Ronaldo scored 49 goals in 68 Serie A games for Inter, despite two devastating knee injuries which saw him sidelined for the entirety of the 2000-01 season.

After a move to Real Madrid in 2002, the forward returned to Italy with Milan midway through the 2006-07 season, getting a further 9 Serie A goals in 20 games across a year-and-a-half.
