Ronaldinho has declared “if it were up to me, I'd already have signed for Gremio,” and offers to take a pay cut.

The Brazilian is desperate for a return to his homeland, but Milan have demanded €8m to release him from his contract six months early.

Flamengo are reportedly able to pay that sum, but preferred option Gremio – the club where he started his career – are struggling.

“If it were up to me, I'd have already signed for Gremio, even if it meant lower wages,” Ronaldinho told Globoesporte.

“The problem is not my wage demand, but rather what Milan are asking for. Nobody has come close to that request.”

Palmeiras were also said to be interested, while Blackburn Rovers confessed to an outlandish transfer bid.

“There is not going to be any bidding war. My desire is to wear the Gremio shirt, even if that means a pay cut.”
