FK Qarabag

What you need to know: Based over 3,000km away from Rome in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, Qarabag are competing in the group stages for the first time.

Their hometown of Ağdam is now a ghost town after the Nagorno-Karabakh war, and the club has been based in Baku since 1993.

Nicknamed ‘The Horsemen’ they’ve won the Azerbaijani league for the past four seasons in a row.

Qarabag met Fiorentina in the Europa League last season, losing 2-1 at home and 5-1 at the Artemio Franchi.
