Former Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli has reportedly put Fulham on hold and is close to reaching an agreement with Lazio.

The Italy international is available as a free agent after the end of his contract with the Rossoneri. According to Calciomercato.com, Fulham have offered the 27-year-old a €4m-a-year deal which, at the moment, is the best proposal Romagnoli has received so far.

However, the defender wants to continue his career in Italy and is waiting for a new offer from his childhood club Lazio.

Transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà confirms Romagnoli has put negotiations with Fulham on hold. The Biancocelesti have reportedly offered €2.8m plus add-ons, while the defender wants €3.3m per season.

Lazio are ready to finalise the agreement even before selling Francesco Acerbi, who has been put on the market by the club after a disappointing season under Maurizio Sarri.

The Lazio coach is pushing for the former Sampdoria man and the Biancocelesti are confident that they’ll eventually manage to secure his signature.

Romagnoli left Milan at the end of his contract on June 30. He had a €5m-a-year contract at the Stadio Meazza, where he played 247 games, winning the Scudetto in his final year at the club.

  1. What are they (lotito& tare) waiting for??? Just take him to the squad, Thats what lazio needed now..

  2. Was the heir apparent to the BBC but never materialized and made too many costly mistakes. Won’t play in England because he’ll ride the bench.

  3. @Zauri : if his heart was with Lazio, then he woulda said “YES” without any further negotiations. In the end, he’s waiting for Lazio’s better offer & other teams with more money at the same time.
