Roma could raise their bid for Edin Dzeko to €23m plus bonuses if Milan offer more than €25m for Alessio Romagnoli.

The Giallorossi transfer strategy is indelibly tied up with these two different negotiations.

Talks with Manchester City for Dzeko seemed to hit a dead end yesterday when the offer of €15m was met with a demand of €30m plus bonuses.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the clubs are continuing to discuss possible ways of closing that immense gap.

Roma could go up to €23m plus bonuses for the Bosnia international, but there’s a problem there too.

Manchester City want the money paid off completely in two years, whereas the Italians would prefer to spread it out over four years.

The key to Dzeko could well be selling Romagnoli to Milan, although Roma knocked back yet another proposal today worth €25m.

Sinisa Mihajlovic confirmed “we’ll try again” for the 20-year-old defender, so expect another offer of around €27m over the next few days.

With the Dzeko situation in mind, it will be extremely difficult for Roma to turn that down.

Above all, as Romagnoli grew up in the Giallorossi youth academy, his sale will show up on the books as pure profit.
