The Giallorossi vice-captain was jeered when the line-ups were read out on Sunday and again when he was replaced by Stephan El Shaarawy in the second half.

It is claimed supporters belonging to the Curva Sud are still unhappy with Florenzi for drawing out negotiations over a new contract last summer.

A survey carried out by Il Corriere would have also found Roma fans to describe the 27-year-old as ‘treacherous, conceited and complacent’.

The Italy international, meanwhile, has put his injury problems behind him to make 25 appearances for the capital club this season.
