The fans are unhappy at the addition of barriers in the Curva Sud as extra safety precautions, and many have remained silent throughout the matches against Juventus and Barcelona.

Today the Ultras Roma Curva Sud group posted a statement on Facebook calling for continued protests this weekend.

“Nobody wants to stay away from our Curva, but we will leave until it is liberated,” read the statement.

“If a man is offended, they respond…

“If they want to subjugate him, he defends himself…

“If they accuse him of something he hasn’t done, he rebels…

“Away and then away again until our Curva is taken back, until these things happen just like that, away until we can go back to cheer freely and not like trained dogs.

“We’ve spent money, making sacrifices, but this isn’t what we have bought.

“There is no difference between us, we’re all enamoured fans and we demonstrate that in different ways.

“Thank you to everyone who sang and rejoiced on Wednesday outside the small bars.

“Thank you also to those who listened to us and then decided to enter, thanks to those who brought the protest forward in a civil, yet firm and decisive, manner by deciding not to sing for the entire match.

“Now more than ever, EVERYONE is united to take back our dear Curva Sud.

“They can put in as many barriers as they want, but they will never manage to divide our ideals.

“We will see you on Sunday outside the stadium, where we will stay for the duration of the match.

“Avanti Curva Sud!”
