However, Corriere dello Sport reports that negotiations with the France international may have broken down.

According to the Italian daily, the 29-year-old’s wage demands are too high for sporting director Monchi to agree to.

N’Zonzi is said to want €4m-a-year in order to accept a move to the Italian capital.

But with Roma unwilling to offer that amount, Monchi has reportedly turned his attention to other targets.

And Corriere believes that 21-year-old Ndombele has emerged as the Giallorossi’s new number one midfield target.

He is thought to be available for a fee of around €25m.
