The Nerazzurri have made the Real Madrid midfielder their number one target for the remainder of this summer’s transfer window, with an audacious transfer swoop planned.

Los Blancos President Florentino Perez last night stated he would not allow the Croatia captain to leave for anything less than an astronomical fee of €750m.

However, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Perez’s position could soften once he has held face-to-face talks with Modric after this weekend.

The pair are said to be on excellent terms, with a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ possible if the 32-year-old expresses a desire to leave the Bernabeu.

And Corriere della Sera claims that if Modric does want to swap the European champions for Serie A, the Nerazzurri would be willing to offer him a deal to take him through until 2022 – with the potential to earn a total of €46m.

The Italian daily also states Inter would submit an opening offer of €15m to take the player on loan for a season, with the option to sign him permanently for a further €25m next summer.
