Laurent Blanc is now a leading contender to be handed the Roma job after Milan announced that they will be keeping Massimiliano Allegri.

The latter was in pole position to succeed Aurelio Andreazzoli in the Italian capital, but he was confirmed by the Diavolo late last night.

Capital sporting director Walter Sabatini is now looking on the foreign market for a tactician and the former France national boss is a possibility.

The Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Blanc will be contacted this week and he could be aided at the Olimpico by former Roma full-back Vincent Candela.

Blanc was already contacted in February after the club opted to sack Zdenek Zeman just months following his summer arrival.

Roma have also been paired with a possible move for Rudi Garcia after he ended his spell at Lille, while former Milan midfielder Frank Rijkaard is also on their radar.
