Roma are close to securing a new loan deal for Leeds defender Diego Llorente but only want Gianluca Scamacca on loan, while Paulo Dybala has reportedly rejected offers from the Saudi Pro League.

La Gazzetta dello Sport provides the latest updates regarding the Giallorossi’s transfers. Llorente is set to return to the capital after a six-month spell. Roma didn’t activate an €18m option to buy in June and are finalising a new deal with the English club.

Roma will have an obligation to buy for €5m if the Spanish defender plays 50% of games in 2023-24. In order to ease negotiations, Llorente has reportedly given up to some bonuses in his contract with Roma.

Director Tiago Pinto wants to shake hands with Leeds this week, so Llorente can be available on Monday when Roma start the pre-season.

The Giallorossi are also close to signing Rasmus Kristensen from Leeds, on loan with an option to buy, but it remains to be seen if the 25-year-old will be in the capital next week to start the pre-season with his new club.

Paulo Dybala has rejected offers from Saudi clubs, which were first reported by Corriere dello Sport last week, while talks between Roma and West Ham for Scamacca continue.

The Giallorossi only want a loan deal for the striker given that they already have Andrea Belotti and Tammy Abraham in the team. The Englishman won’t return to action before 2024 due to a knee injury, but Roma fear they’ll have too many centre-forwards if they get Scamacca on a permanent transfer or on loan with an obligation to buy.

The Giallorossi hope that a paid loan deal with an option to buy will persuade West Ham, but the Hammers are currently looking for a permanent transfer for the Italy international.
