It has emerged that Roma are set to appeal the decision to ban player Daniele De Rossi for three matches.

The Azzurri international was handed the penalty after being adjudged to have punched Inter’s Mauro Icardi in the face during the teams’ Serie A match on Saturday.

While the original incident was missed by the referee, the domestic game’s governing bodies decided to enforce the punishment and De Rossi was also left out of Cesare Prandelli’s national squad to face Spain.

De Rossi at the moment is due to miss the Giallorossi’s games with Napoli, Udinese and Chievo but Rudi Garcia’s side will hope this is reduced.

Inter meanwhile will also be appealing the decision to ban Juan Jesus for the same length of time after he was ruled to have punched Alessio Romagnoli in the back during the same match.
