Spain Coach Vicente Del Bosque has backed Azzurri counterpart Cesare Prandelli over his decision to leave Daniele De Rossi out of his squad.

Prandelli omitted De Rossi on the grounds that he had broken a strict code of ethics by punching Inter’s Mauro Icardi at the weekend.

“He has made the right decision to leave him out,” Del Bosque told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We could do with adopting a code of ethics ourselves in Spain.”

The 63-year-old then added that tomorrow’s friendly result would have no bearing on what happens at the summer’s World Cup.

“Whatever result happens tomorrow cannot influence what will happen at the World Cup,” he explained.

“So I don’t agree with Prandelli there, that we would not want to face them again.

“I’m looking forward to facing Italy who we drew with in the Euro 2012 Group Stage and in the Confederations Cup.”
