Roma could benefit to the tune of €2.1m if their former striker Patrik Schick moves from Bayer Leverkusen to West Ham United.

According to various reports in Germany and England, the Hammers have set their sights firmly on Schick and want the hitman in the January transfer window.

The deal would be done for circa €47.5m, claims the Daily Mirror newspaper.

Jose Mourinho is watching with interest, because this could be worth a €2.1m boost to his Roma side.

Schick was sold to Leverkusen in September 2020 for €26.5m plus a 10 per cent cut of any profits from his future sale.

If the figures reported are correct, and Schick will cost €47.5m, that would give Roma €2.1m, representing 10 per cent of the €21m profit Bayer Leverkusen are making from the sale to West Ham.

Schick scored 16 goals and provided seven assists in just 14 Bundesliga appearances so far this season.

The Czech Republic international turns 26 next month.

  1. Hmm West Ham never learn, yeah impressive euros and good season but it’s one season, he didn’t even get 10 last season, so price is inflated, I’d add the 12 and go for wirtz then maybe look at someone a bit cheaper as his age and inconsistent form for me kills his market value if he bombs.

  2. Saw him suffer at Roma and always thought he had bad technique for a forward. Bad first touch and prone to missing sitters.

  3. West Ham recently sold a stake in club to a Czech billionaire. They already have Soucek, Coufal and Kral as current Czech internationals and no cover for Antonio as their CF. The Schick deal makes sense for them, especially woth EPL money and Europa League knockout stage place.

Schick struggled at Roma and did reasonably well at RB Leipzig. His Leverkusen form is staggering and his Sampdoria time showed he was capable.

Given his fee is only slightly more than Roma paid for Abraham (a couple years younger but with minimal pedigree outside the English 2nd tier), maybe it is Roma who are the poorly managed club.

  4. Could be yet another young player that Serie A gave up on too soon, but we’re used to that.

2.1 million? That’s barely enough to pay the agent fee for the next epl has-been who arrives.
