Diego Perotti insists Roma still sit at “the table of the great teams” in Europe, despite their Champions League exit to Porto last week.

Roma must negotiate the Europa League this season after crashing out to Porto in the Champions League playoffs, but Perotti is adamant the Giallorossi remain one of the continent’s best clubs and will prove it in the second-tier competition.

“We’re calmer, the market is over and now the season really begins,” the attacker told Sky Sport Italia.

“Are Roma still on the table of the great teams? Of course, even though no-one expected the defeat to Porto, it was a blow.

“The season started well, even though the draw with Cagliari wasn’t expected by anyone.

“We had to close the game after going 2-0 up. We must focus a lot on the Europa League and have good season for our fans.”
