Inter defender Miranda says he is ready to lead Brazil to the 2018 World Cup after being confirmed as the Selecao’s new captain.

Miranda takes the armband from Neymar, who recently captained Brazil to a gold medal at the Rio Olympics, and the centre-back is keen to reignite his country’s faltering qualifying campaign with a win in Quito on Thursday.

“I know that the national team have several leaders, but I’m still very happy to have this honour,” he was quoted as saying by FCInterNews.it.
