Georginio Wijnaldum is set to land in the Italian capital this afternoon ahead of his loan move to Roma.

The Giallorossi agreed a loan deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the 31-year-old Dutch midfielder, whose move has a €9m buy option attached that could become an obligation should Champions League qualification be secured. Wijnaldum is another key addition to the Roma squad and is a sign of their ambition with Jose Mourinho at the helm.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Wijnaldum is expected to land at Ciampino airport in Rome at around 4:50pm local time. He’ll then head to Roma’s training centre in Trigoria, although he’s not set to take his pre-transfer medicals until tomorrow morning.

On Sunday, Roma will unveil Wijnaldum to the fans at the Stadio Olimpico before the friendly match against Shakhtar Donetsk. Around 65,000 fans are expected to attend.

The Dutch midfielder immediately accepted the advances of Mourinho and turned down offers from both the Premier League and La Liga to join Roma. He’ll be paid €5m net by the Giallorossi, with PSG paying the other €2m, and he gave up around €1m in add-ons to facilitate the move.
