Roma have set their sights on Tommaso Baldanzi and the club are growing increasingly convinced about making a move for the Empoli talent in the closing days of this transfer window.

The Giallorossi find themselves in a difficult spot as the January transfer market begins to come to an end, with their only reinforcement being Juventus youngster Dean Huijsen. The sacking of Jose Mourinho and arrival of Daniele De Rossi has given the team a slight boost, but more is needed.

Baldanzi broke into the Empoli first team last season and shone in his debut campaign in Serie A, scoring four goals across 26 matches. He also impressed at the Under-20 World Cup last year, scoring twice and providing two assists in the run to the final.

As reported by TMW, Empoli are open to letting Baldanzi leave this month, willing to let him go on a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause attached, worth around €15-18m, and are waiting for an approach from Roma.

The Giallorossi’s management are convinced that the 20-year-old would be the perfect addition to De Rossi’s squad, but there’s still no approval from the Friedkin family. They also need to complete some outgoing transfers, like Matias Vina to Flamengo.
