Wolfsburg's Simon Kjaer could be one of the first players targeted by the new American owners at Roma.

The Giallorossi have high hopes for the future and are expected to make a significant splash in the transfer market this summer.

A top priority for the outfit will be signing a new centre-back given that Philippe Mexes is likely to join Milan on a Bosman.

Amongst the names being mentioned as a replacement for the Frenchman is that of Danish international Kjaer.

Amongst the names being mentioned as a replacement for the Frenchman is that of Danish international Kjaer.

The central defender only joined the Bundesliga outfit last July after impressing in Serie A with Palermo.

There is a possibility that he could be on the move again though given Wolfsburg's problems so far this term.

Despite spending heavily to reinforce their squad before 2010-11 kicked-off, Wolfsburg are actually in danger of relegation.

Should they go down then Kjaer could be available for a fee between €8m and €10m, a figure shy of his €13m valuation a year ago.
