Roma CEO Italo Zanzi says he’s pleased to have drawn Fiorentina in the Europa League, because it minimises travel.

The Giallorosso director did warn however, that the game would be tough as both sides know each other so well.

“Anyone who we drew would have been difficult,” Zanzi told Mediaset after the draw.

“Fiorentina is a tough game for us, as it was in Serie A. On the one hand, we know them, but on the other they know us too.

“That said, to have avoided travelling and flights during such a tight schedule is important. We want to win every game, we give the Europa League the same importance as the League.

“There are benefits if you know your opposition, but vice-versa there are benefits if they don’t know you."

“They’re strong, there will be two competitive games, but it’s good for Italy to have such important European games.”
