However, the Giallorossi owner expressed his ‘frustration’ at problems over a new stadium and outlined his philosophy for the club.
“Signing players like Messi and Ronaldo? It’s not just an argument for Roma, there are few teams that could manage that and then they aren’t the absolute recipe to success,” he said to Corriere dello Sport.

However, the Giallorossi owner expressed his ‘frustration’ at problems over a new stadium and outlined his philosophy for the club.
“Signing players like Messi and Ronaldo? It’s not just an argument for Roma, there are few teams that could manage that and then they aren’t the absolute recipe to success,” he said to Corriere dello Sport.
“How many clubs are struggling despite having world-class stars? And last year Juventus got to the Champions League final without buying a superstar.
“So it’s not in my philosophy to do everything under the spotlight: you work continually behind the scenes to create a great team. We have important young players who are growing, who represent the immediate future.
“Seeing Strootman on the pitch again was an extraordinary moment. His contract? Everything will move forward always for the good of Roma. He’s another of our important players.
“If it was up to me, the stadium would already be ready from yesterday. But once the project started, unfortunately problems appeared that we didn’t expect, that haven’t made us happy, and for this reason I’m frustrated. But we continue to work continuously behind the scenes.
“I’m always thinking about the fans, and everything I try and that the club is committed to doing is for them, although some things are out of our control and here we return again to the fact that we still don’t have our own stadium.
“I have no problem with our fans, 99 per cent of our supporters are totally passionate: it’s only one per cent that disappoint me.
“But an important thing for me that I think about a lot is that I don’t want to disappoint them and so the team, a great team, is my objective.
“I think about the Scudetto a lot, obviously. But I knew from the outset that there was work to do. The organisation I found when I took over Roma hasn’t been erased, I’ve just tried to improve it.
“The Sensi family did a great job, but now times have changed and in a hurry too. And it was on this aspect that I had to intervene, no database or communication between the various departments existed here, things that there are now.
“Juventus are the example as they’ve always had, from what I’ve been told, a great organisation and it’s on this that we must act. I have faith, we’re on the right track to reach those levels and once we get there we’ll win the Scudetto too.
“I’ve already said in the past that we can win the title because we have the team, but to achieve this goal we need to add the organisational system and that’s what we’re working on.
“Naturally we could’ve done better. You can say this anywhere, but at the same time I don’t think you could say that we’ve done badly either.
“We’ve twice reached the Champions League and we’re on course to manage that again this year. And I’m convinced we’ll do it.
“This is a great team, the nucleus is strong and the direction we’ve taken is definitely a winning one. I don’t let myself be influenced by speculation about us, because this isn’t my philosophy.
“Many people think that if I don’t say things publically then I’m not doing anything. It’s absolutely untrue.
“Roma, as a club, always continues to work, even in the dark, even if we’re not talking about it.”
