Roma are reportedly hoping to replace the unhappy Nicolo Zaniolo with Lyon talent Houssem Aouar.

The 23-year-old Italian forward has officially been transfer listed by the Giallorossi and asked the club to exclude him from the upcoming game against Spezia as he looks to push through a move away from the Italian capital. Zaniolo, whose contract expires with Roma in 2024, looks destined to leave the club in the coming months.

As reported by Radio Radio, Roma believe Aouar would be the perfect replacement for Zaniolo and are hoping to pick up the Frenchman this month, should the Italian depart.

Rumours also suggest that the 24-year-old Lyon midfielder has already carried out the first part of his medicals with the Giallorossi and has given his word to the club.

Although his contract expires with Lyon at the end of the season, the club aren’t keen to lose the midfielder this month, forcing Roma to find a convincing offer.

  1. Perfect replacement. Home grown talent pushed to leave to bring in another average (at best) replacement!
