Roma are looking towards Gerard Deulofeu more than Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi to replace Mohamed Salah, it’s reported.

Salah was sold to Liverpool for €42m plus €8m in performance-related bonuses.

Berardi had been the natural heir, especially after Coach Eusebio Di Francesco took over, but Sassuolo’s asking price of over €25m is proving tricky.

Instead, Mediaset Premium claim that Roma are turning their attention towards Deulofeu instead.

The Spain international spent the last six months in Serie A on loan at Milan, scoring four goals with three assists in 17 appearances.

He is technically owned by Everton, but Barcelona have a buy-back option worth €12m and are expected to activate it.

However, Deulofeu is unlikely to get much regular playing time at Camp Nou, so could be loaned out again or sold.
