Roma general manager Mauro Baldissoni says the Giallorossi “hope” Luciano Spalletti earns a contract extension and that “results follow”.

Roma and Spalletti were said to be at odds over a renewal before the Lupi’s 2-1 win against Inter on Sunday, the Coach’s current deal due to expire at the end of the season, but Baldissoni made it clear the 57-year-old had the club’s backing.

“We’re puzzled when we read such nonsense, but we’ve come to grips with it,” he told Corriere della Sera.

“We value our Coach very much and expect him to stay with us in the future. He wanted to give a message to the team, that extensions must be earned with the results.

“We don’t only hope Spalletti earns his contract, but that the results follow. Totti? He’s the best player in the history of Italian football.”
