The Giallorossi paid €16m to get Destro from Genoa in the summer of 2012, where he proved to be a huge flop.

“After Aubameyang went to Borussia Dortmund, he became a complicated player to deal with,” agent Oscar Damiani told TMW Radio.

“He’s worth €70m-80m now, those are the demands of Borussia, as they have no need to sell. He should’ve been signed when we were proposing him to Italian clubs and he played for Saint-Etienne, as then he cost just €12m-13m plus bonuses.

“The only one who wanted him, and in fact had blocked Aubameyang, was Walter Sabatini at Roma. Then they got Destro and the deal didn’t go through.”

It’s not the only regret in Serie A for Aubameyang, who grew up in the Milan youth academy and was sold to Saint-Etienne in January 2012 for just €1.8m.
