This saga has been going on for several weeks and is still no closer to being resolved.

“Negotiations with Roma are continuing and we are down to the details regarding bonuses,” lawyer Remy Abbas told laroma24.it.

“There is no reason whatsoever to slow down the talks.”

However, La Repubblica and Sky Sport Italia claim Fiorentina are threatening legal action and FIFA arbitration.

This could potentially lead to Chelsea paying the Tuscan club compensation and Salah being suspended for six months for breach of contract.

Salah arrived in January as part of the Juan Guillermo Cuadrado transfer, signing a contract to move on a six-month loan.

The Viola also had an option to extend the loan by another year for €1m – which they already paid in June – and another to buy outright for €18m in 2016.

The Egyptian insists he had power of veto with a separate signed agreement, but Fiorentina claim it was not part of the original contract and was never registered with the authorities.

They saw only a verbal agreement for Salah to veto the move before June 30 – a deadline he missed.

Now Fiorentina are refusing to release the international transfer (TMS), so Chelsea could request a temporary one-month TMS so they can sell Salah to Roma.

The Viola want compensation for losing Salah, which could be a cash sum, another player on loan from Chelsea or Mattia Destro on loan with option to buy from Roma.

“Our lawyers are speaking to the Chelsea lawyers. They are handling it and I cannot say more right now,” commented Fiorentina President Mario Cognini on Saturday.
