Roma director general Franco Baldini has refused to criticise the reaction of Pablo Daniel Osvaldo following his substitution on Monday night.

The Argentine-born Italian international was clearly disappointed with the decision to have him replaced during the second half of the 1-1 draw with Juventus.

“His reaction represented the desire to battle for Roma,” the former England official told Sky Sport Italia.

“His arrival was met with a lot of scepticism, but he is instead offering us a lot of satisfaction in his performances.

“The incident last night should be read as an example of someone who really wanted to win the game against Juventus.”

Giallorossi boss Luis Enrique also defended the summer signing from Espanyol for walking straight down the tunnel after being subbed.

“I know Osvaldo very well,” the Spaniard noted. “He is a good man and a spectacular player. He always wants to win and it is normal for him to react in this way.

“This is the type of grit that I want to see.”

The former Lecce player returned to the starting XI last night after he was dropped for the game at Fiorentina following a physical clash with teammate Erik Lamela after defeat at Udinese.
