Roma confirm that Rick Karsdorp had surgery today to reduce a nasal fracture sustained against Real Sociedad, so he is out of the Derby della Capitale with Lazio.

The big match kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday at 17.00 GMT.

Karsdorp would’ve been tipped to start for the Giallorossi, but he will be recovering from the operation tomorrow evening.

A statement was released by the club medical staff confirming that Karsdorp went under the knife at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome to reduce the fracture of his nasal bones.

There is no news on how long it will take to recover, but there is a break for international duty coming up for Serie A, so he should return after that with the aid of a protective mask.

It is the latest in a series of traumatic injuries for Jose Mourinho’s men, all of them accidental, after Tammy Abraham sustained a cut under his eye, Andrea Belotti broke a bone in his hand and Lorenzo Pellegrini required 30 stitches for a wound in his forehead.
