Nicolo Zaniolo asked to be taken off the pitch in Roma’s 3-1 win to Hellas Verona, causing the club concern ahead of the Derby della Capitale.

The 23-year-old Italian forward scored his first goal of the season in the Giallorossi’s victory in Veneto, drawing his team level just before the half time break. Zaniolo was looking confident but was forced off the pitch in the 55th minute of the match after a tough challenge for the ball. The Italian ended up sprawled on the floor, turned towards the bench and asked to be taken off.

Andrea Belotti came on for Zaniolo, who limped off the pitch and headed straight down the tunnel. It was a concerning sight for Roma, who’ll be facing both Ludogorets and Lazio in the next seven days.

Jose Mourinho praised the 23-year-old to the media after the win, highlighting that he’s always happy with the player, whether he scores or not.
