Milan’s Sandro Tonali has reportedly accepted an offer of personal terms presented to him by Newcastle on Wednesday evening amidst strong reports that he is close to leaving San Siro in favour of Champions League football in the North East of England.
Members of Tonali’s entourage met with representatives from Milan on Wednesday to explore their options amidst offers from the Premier League for the 23-year-old midfielder.
Newcastle have reportedly put in a formal offer of around €70m for Tonali, who will captain Italy during the upcoming Under-21 Euros this summer, although Milan are still attempting to get that fee pushed up to a figure closer to €80m according to recent claims.
Gianluca Di Marzio has reported on Wednesday evening that Tonali has reached an agreement in principle on personal terms to join Newcastle this summer, and that the Tynesiders are now awaiting the final go-ahead from Milan.
Tonali is thought to earn around €3.5m per season in his current deal with the Rossoneri, but that sum could increase significantly if he were to make a move to the Premier League, with Calciomercato reporting that he could be set to earn somewhere in the region of €6.5m, which could rise to €7.5m with performance related bonuses.
